gopooh and i snuck into our new condo last weekend. it was kinda fun. for some reason they keep the front door locked but leave the door through the garage UNlocked. so gopooh lifted up the garage door and we crawled in underneath.

up the stairs we went, and then we were free to walk around the place unseen. i of course was wearing my boots. not storm boots, but knee-high boots w/ heels, so i had to tiptoe to avoid going clickety clack all over the place. going to the upper floor i forgot about being stealthy and switched on the light... oops! there was a certain thrill to being there in the middle of the night though.

ok i really have to say, i love the features we chose. the tall white cabinets look awesome against the dark granite. we actually didn't get knobs put on the cabinets. i thought we could do without them, and gopooh thought they were overcharging us, so we got little chrome knobs for cheaper when a nearby store was going out of business, and he was planning on installing them himself. but after our visit he was like, "how did you like the cabinets w/out the knobs?" hahaha. turns out he now likes the sleek look i'd favored to begin w/. and our fireplace? it was more expensive than the other fireplaces of the same size, but it was sooo worth it. i can't wait!

i think i've been spoiled by the call rooms in our primary hospital. we use a call suite that has a main room w/ computers and a tv area, 5 rooms, and 1.5 baths. not to mention the fridge that's filled every day by cafeteria ppl. the suite's at the end of a hall and we're the only residents who take call there, so it's quiet.

but we also work at another hospital in the same system, "the main." i've slept there many times in the last 2.5 years, but the last time was back in august. since then my call months have been at the primary hospital... but not this month!!! last night i realized just exactly how sucky the call rooms at the main are, at least comparatively.

the temperature control isn't the greatest, for one thing. my room was freaking hot w/ no thermostat, and i'm not usually one to turn away a blanket in the winter. and the walls are sooo thin! i heard so many doors open and close, so many pagers go off, so much walking and whispering in the hall, and so much... water???

i distinctly remember hearing water noises above my head. "is someone showering upstairs? no wait, this is the top floor! um, are those pipes? the heater???" and this was while i was sleeping, in between waking up and adjusting the window... and answering pages and admitting patients. man, that sucked. once you're spoiled you just can't go back.
