gopooh and i have been living together in plymouth for almost 3 months now. i still don't know where most of the restaurants in canton are, but i know how to get to and from the usual stuff in plymouth. and we definitely have our favorites.

almost every saturday morning since may, we've gone to the plymouth farmer's market. it's only 4-5 blocks away, so it's super convenient. for us it's not as much a farmer's market as it is a baked goods market. i mean, they have fruits & veggies and herbs and other stuff like that. but whenever we've bought anything, it's been chocolate croissants, pizza rolls or pasties. but mostly i like walking around and petting all the dogs. plymouth is VERY dog friendly, which is great for dog lovers like myself. :)

and of course there's the starbucks. we mostly only go there when we're at the farmer's market, but we've also stopped by on the occasional evening. across the street is a bookstore. i don't even know its name, but it's cute. we've never bought anything except magazines there (their selection isn't as good as that of large chains, and we don't buy books that often anyway.) but there's free wireless internet and a guitarist that plays mellow music in the cafe, so i'm thinking that we could study there one day.

but our all-time favorite is the omelette & waffle cafe. it's fantastic. everything is low key, like you order and pay, and they bring it out to you. and they use plastic plates. even the pop there is canned and the juice is stuff like tropicana and sunny D. but it's cheap! when it's just the 2 of us we eat for under $20, which is getting more and more uncommon. not only that, but you get a LOT of food. i can never finish the whole thing. in the last 2-3 months we've probably eaten there 5-6 times. and they're doing a bbq thing on friday and saturday nights now!

last night was our graduation party. of course i'm not graduating, but it's a yearly event to celebrate w/ the ppl leaving. it was really fun. i love our group! when i look back on the past year, i'm sooo glad i picked this program (and that they picked me). partly b/c of the program itself, but mostly b/c i ended up in an awesome class. our class is definitely the most cohesive of the years. i don't know exactly why that is, but i'm very grateful. our get-togethers have really made the year fly; i can't believe it's gone by so quickly!

it was at the ritz, which is where T and i are getting married. it was in a different ballroom -- we don't need 12000 sq ft! -- but it was nice b/c we had an unofficial preview of what our wedding will be like. i'm pleased to say that the filet was amazing. and looking around and asking ppl, the meat averaged around medium rare, which is just the way good meat is s'posed to be. R was like, "whatever this beef is, you'd better have it at the wedding!" he then proceeded to drink some more. haha.

i hear that the chicken was also really good and not dry, but i don't think we're offering chicken anyway. i was worried about the food, b/c at most weddings the food tastes mass-produced, i.e. so dry that i have to wash it down w/ water. but last night i didn't even realize i had any water until dessert. my fears about the food there are all gone. :)

i'm on nights now, 6pm to 8am. last night i delivered 6 babies. 2 of them were missed deliveries, meaning the attending didn't get there in time, so i had the senior w/ me. it happens, it's fine. some women just shoot those things out when you don't expect them to. but what isn't fine is when it isn't all that unexpected and then the attending shows up after the baby's already out, pissed off about having missed it.

like last night. this attending was notified when the patient was 6-7 cm and 100% effaced in triage. 45 mins later she was 9 cm and couldn't hold it in. poor woman, she couldn't understand why it was too late to get the epidural. of course at that point the attending was once again called. well, the baby delivered so fast that the bed wasn't even broken down. and the attending showed up just in time to see the placenta delivering itself. it wanted OUT.

she was clearly upset. and then she was hounding the nurse about when exactly the patient was 6-7 cm and when she was 9 cm and so on. i kept hearing, "if i'd known i would've left the house earlier." she also ignored any questions the nurse had. whatever. i was just thinking, when i call you to tell you a grand multip w/ a history of fast labor is 6-7 cm, that doesn't mean wander on down when you feel like it. it means get out of bed and get your ass over here! and gosh, if you happen to miss it, don't go around acting like a child throwing a temper tantrum. seriously.
