i don't know how to get married. i'm doing the whole wedding planning thing, but that's the celebration part. what about the getting married part? i've been told that the certificate is actually filed *before* the wedding b/c it can take a few weeks to get the license... but then does that mean you're actually already married by the time the wedding rolls around? or if you wait until the wedding to get the signatures, does that mean that you won't be officially married until a few weeks later, when you get the license? or are you married when the certificate is signed?

the photographer gopooh and i met last weekend was expensive. his lowest price was $1000 more than our 'maximum' and that included just his time and 1 album. (he had a cheaper package but it offered only 2 hours or smthg equally unrealistic.) compared to other wedding pictures we've seen, his were the best. both b&w and color. no question.

on top of that, we both LOVED his modern albums. we were practically drooling all over his creativity and use of photos. his website did him no justice, so i'm definitely glad we met w/ him. but the cost of that beauty... let's just say that we walked out of the meeting knowing exactly why he's so expensive. *sigh*

we got our bedroom set! whoo hoo! the store actually didn't have a model on the floor, but this interior designer in the store owns the set we were eyeing, and she drove us to her own condo down the street so we could examine it! at first i was like ...?! but eventually we decided to go since she'd shown several ppl before. i hate to say this, but since she was our age and it was downtown b'ham i trusted her. if she were male and 50 or smthg and we were in detroit i would've insisted that we drive separately. and bring rottweilers and pepper spray.

we banged on the wood (birch) and unlike so many pieces that sound hollow, everything was dense. solid. the drawers rolled smoothly, the bed had awesome support, and we liked the high headboard so we could get a thicker mattress. essentially it was the first set we really liked. put that w/ her not charging us for shipping (she could add it to the next shipment), and their assembling it for us, and we were sold. we even decided to go for a king instead of a queen. tada! (but w/ 2 nightstands and no tall chest for a more streamlined look.)

and then, we were going to try to sneak into our new condo again, but we ran into one of the lumberjacks picking up his tools, and he let us in! this time i have pictures. none of the upstairs b/c i forgot we had the camera until later. but... great room, kitchen, and wrapped fridge. everything looks so dark still b/c of all the dust. they'd better get cracking on finishing it up and cleaning!
