i wonder where our lives are going to take us after next year. i mean, with gopooh's fellowship being only 1 year, we'll almost certainly be moving again after that. but we're either too indecisive, or too picky, b/c we have absolutely no idea where we would like to live.

i'm pretty intolerant of heat, but if I'm sweating, then gopooh is downright melting. so austin's out, even though it might be a great place to live. raleigh/durham is s'posedly a great place for doctors, but the last time i was there, i turned into a lobster on a boat. that sucked. we like california's temperature just not the overpriced housing. but to be honest, although i always say michigan is too cold, after living here for so many years, i really can't imagine living somewhere w/ no distinct seasons.

theoretically we could end up in cleveland, but i hope not. i know that's not giving it a fair chance, but i remember going there once years ago w/ an ex, and the only things i remember are the nearby amusement park and the rock 'n roll hall of fame. haha.

anyway, we could end up coming back to michigan. i wouldn't mind it one bit, and in fact a part of me still hopes it happens, but jobs in the field pay so much more in other states. and if he's going to drag us to cleveland for a year, then we may as well reap the benefits financially afterwards, eh?

we're moving to cleveland! yup, we the michigan-born-and-educated, are actually moving away. it's kinda sad, b/c although michigan isn't all that great, it's our home. and for some reason i'd just always thought we were a staple here. but alas, it's not meant to be. the reason we're moving is b/c at the beginning of the month gopooh was offered a 1-year spine fellowship at cleveland clinic starting july 1, and after much thought (and many conversations) he's going to accept it.

it's both good and bad. good b/c he's ready to get out of the umich system. if he stayed at umich for his fellowship, he'd be getting the same attendings... the same style... the same everything. he wants to get out and get a different perspective, so to speak. but it's bad b/c it's just so darn inconvenient!

we don't know what we're going to do w/ our condo. selling it at this point would be worthless, w/ the michigan housing market being so bad. we could rent it out, but to be honest, i'm really attached to it. when we first moved in, we slept on the floor, but we built our home together, piece by piece. it'd be weird to have it not be 'ours' anymore. the last option is to lease a place in cleveland and keep the condo for when we visit michigan. although not ideal, it's do-able b/c housing in cleveland's pretty cheap.

i don't know what we're going to do, but i guess we still have some time. in the meantime, we just have to get used to the idea of moving.

a few days ago, i got a voice mail from a writer for brides.com who said she was assigned to do a story/photoessay on our wedding. she already had some pictures from our photographer but wanted to set up an interview to go over some details of the wedding, or smthg like that. when i first heard the message i thought it was sooo funny. but after thinking about it, it's kinda cool!

b/c of our schedules, we're actually going to do this interview via email, which means we're going to have to fill out a long questionnaire. looking over the questions, i can see that it's going to be hard to fill out. they're asking about specific details... flowers, vendors, music, brands, etc. i mean, it's not like our wedding was last month or smthg. it was 5 months ago! pulling out all the specifics from the depths of my memory is going to be hard!

this past weekend in chicago started out poorly, with us getting stuck on I-94 for over 1.5 hours for an accident that closed all lanes. that caused us to initially push back, then cancel, our dinner reservation at everest. the worst thing of all is that we still got charged $75, b/c that's what our credit card was charged when we first made the reservation online. UGH! but i gotta say, the late night pizza we had at uno's was a good alternative...

after that rough start, we had a great time. we watched the musical wicked, did a little bit of shopping, ate a lot of good food, hung out (and played wii) w/ G&D, and even pushed through a food coma to go to dj tiesto's concert. :)

happy anniversary... now go get the ladder!

five years ago yesterday, gopooh and i went on our first date. and yesterday, to celebrate our special occasion, we got locked out of our house!

as we left for our bike ride, we closed the garage door, slid the remote opener underneath as usual, and then proceeded to ride for 45 minutes. afterwards, gopooh went to the front to open the door as i waited on the driveway... only, the garage door never opened. turns out he'd brought the wrong key. AUGH! and of course our keyless entry for the garage door has been screwed up -- it had unprogrammed our remote openers so we'd decided to forego the keyless entry and stick w/ the good old-fashioned remote openers. so there we were w/ no keyless garage entry, no remote garage opener and no key to the house.

after half an hour of him lifting on the garage door while i used a stick to try to 'snag' the remote opener we'd slid underneath, we were still stranded outside. i wanted to ride our bikes to the downtown plymouth police station, which is only a few blocks away, since my car was on the driveway and they'd be able to jimmy the car door open, thereby giving us access to my remote garage door opener.

instead, there was a gigantic expandable ladder across the street at the construction site of a new home. so he lugged it over and climbed 10+ ft up to our patio door, which he'd left unlocked that morning when he'd gone outside to check the temperature for me. thank god... for him!!!

and that, my friends, is how newlyweds break into their home.
